In a world filled with a myriad of flavors and culinary wonders, chocolate holds a special place. It’s a universally adored treat, a piece of crafted art, a comfort in sadness, and a companion in happiness. From the cocoa bean to the shiny packaged bar, the process of chocolate making is an artistic journey, a blend of science, craft and pure joy. This is the journey that a group of students and faculty from Cornell University embarked upon, under the expert guidance of Flexy Foods.
Last week, Flexy Foods had the privilege of hosting an educational tour for a select group from Cornell University at our state-of-the-art factory. The chocolate factory tour was an immersive experience designed to give the students and faculty an inside look into the world of chocolate making. From the raw ingredients to the finished product, the visitors had a chance to learn about each step in the process, and even take part in it.
The group was given a comprehensive tour of the factory, where they saw first-hand the steps involved in transforming cocoa beans into delicious chocolate bars. Each stage of the manufacturing process was explained in detail by our skilled chocolatiers. This included the selection and grading of cocoa beans, the roasting and grinding, the conching and tempering, and finally, the molding and packaging.
But, the highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the hands-on chocolate making session. Under the watchful eye of our master chocolatier, the group from Cornell took part in a workshop where they created their own chocolate bars. The session was a chance for them to understand the intricacies of the art and also bring out their creative side.
Each participant was provided with everything they needed to create their own chocolate masterpiece. They were taught how to temper chocolate, a crucial step in achieving the perfect texture and shine. They then poured the tempered chocolate into molds, added their chosen fillings and toppings, and waited for their creations to set.
The excitement in the room was palpable as the participants carefully unmolded their creations. Each one was a unique piece of art, reflecting the creativity and personality of its maker. The moment was made even more special when the participants were given the opportunity to package their creations in custom wrappers, creating their own branded bars.
There was a sense of pride on everyone’s faces as they held up their finished products, and rightfully so. They had not only learned about the art of chocolate making, but had also experienced it first-hand. According to the feedback received, the participants found the tour to be an enlightening and fun experience. Many expressed an increased appreciation for the craft and the amount of effort that goes into creating a single chocolate bar.
Flexy Foods was delighted to have the opportunity to share our love and knowledge of chocolate with the group from Cornell University. We believe that the best way to understand something is to experience it first-hand, and we hope that the participants found the tour to be as enjoyable and informative as we did.
The chocolate making tour was a testament to Flexy Foods’ commitment to education and our passion for chocolate. We look forward to hosting more such tours, sharing our love for chocolate with more people, and inspiring future generations of chocolatiers. As we continue to innovate and create, we invite everyone to join us in our journey, and experience the joy of chocolate making.
